Atlantoaxial Arthrodesis

The use of atlantoaxial fusion and transarticular screw fixation, or known as Magerl’s procedure, would be the first approach in surgery for this specific condition. After image mapping and locating of the region causing the initial pain, a small incision is made from the back of the neck approach. Bone grafting is then placed into effect in relieving the originating neck pain, which will then relieve the pain spread throughout the hands and fingers. Insertion of screws and hooks are then placed to help guide and align the cervical alignment among the neck and spine.
