Carpal Tunnel Release

In the process of open carpal tunnel surgery, the transverse ligament located within the hand is cut in order to relieve pressure on the median nerve. The surgery begins with the surgeon making a small incision on the palm of the hand. Upon completion of the surgical procedure, the skin incision is closed with stitches and the remaining gap of the incision is filled with scar tissue during the recovery process.
