Intraoperative Mapping of Motor Cortex

In the first step to mapping out the motor cortex, the central sulcus is located by the polarity reversal in finding the median nerve SEP. The motor cortex is then identified and stimulated with the use of electrical stimulation. This procedure can then be performed through either a bipolar or monopolar electrode method, in which the primary difference between the two is dependent on the location of stimulation.
